Daniel Furnad is the Head of Content for the new media app BUSHFIRE, an original African-made digital platform. Mr. Furnad trains contributors on making social media content, as well as heading a team that produces, acquires and aggregates content from freelancers, established media houses and rising internet stars.
Mr. Furnad spent ten years at CNN as an assignment editor and producer, traveling on the 1988 and 1992 US Presidential campaign, as well as covering the 1991 Gulf war from several locations in the Middle East. He started AP Television’s North American operations from their inception in 1994 and then ran their Asian operations for 14 years from Hong Kong and Bangkok.
For 6 years Mr. Furnad was the COO & Senior Executive Producer at AFRICA24 MEDIA based in Nairobi, Kenya. With AFRICA24 MEDIA he steered them in producing content showing positive developments in Africa through the AFRICA JOURNAL and other long-running news magazine programs, documentaries for CGTN’s FACES of AFRICA series, feature content for CNN, Deutche Welle and many other well-known international broadcasters, as well as content supporting the aims of such prestige organizations as Medicine Sans Frontieres, the Rockefeller Foundation, the African Child Policy Forum and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
